March 1, 2024

Antwerp, 1 March 2024 – D-CRBN, a pioneering Belgian company dedicated to advancing innovative solutions for CO2 recycling, proudly announces its successful grant acquisition of €2.5 million from the esteemed European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator Program.

The EIC Accelerator Program, a flagship funding initiative under Horizon Europe, offers crucial support to start-ups and SMEs with innovative, game-changing products, services, or business models. D-CRBN’s recognition by this prestigious program highlights the disruptive potential of its CO2 recycling technology, which drive positive change on a global scale.

Gill Scheltjens, CEO of D-CRBN, emphasized that out of 1083 full applications from start-ups and SMEs for the EIC Accelerator cut-off, a mere 4% made the cut. He further noted that among these applicants, only 42 companies secured €285 million in funding, with the majority (62%) slated to receive a blend of grants and equity. D-CRBN is honored to stand as the only Belgian company selected to benefit from this mixed support.

D-CRBN’s proprietary plasma-based technology leverage advanced scientific principles to efficiently utilize carbon emissions, transforming them into sustainable feedstock. This innovative approach not only mitigates the environmental impact of carbon emissions but also replaces feedstock coming from fossil fuels, contributing to a more sustainable and circular economy.      D-CRBN is proud to play a role in reducing reliance on fossil fuels and promoting the use of renewable resources in industrial processes.

The European Commission’s 2040 Roadmap aims to reduce EU greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2040, leading to climate neutrality by 2050. This necessitates strategic use of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (#CCUS) technologies, especially in emission-heavy industries. D-CRBN is committed to advancing these goals, using its expertise to drive Europe towards a low-carbon future

With the ambition and commitment to accelerate the scale-up towards a first-of-a-kind commercial product, D-CRBN aims to maximize the impact of the grant funds, expanding its operational capabilities, fostering collaborations, and scaling its solutions to drive widespread adoption across industries, both within Europe and globally, thereby solidifying its position as a frontrunner in the field of CO2 recycling technology highlighted by the grant from the EIC Accelerator Program.
