D-CRBN and Worley today announced that Worley has been awarded the engineering design contract for D-CRBN’s next demonstration unit, which will be installed at an industrial site in Antwerp, Belgium.
The demonstration plant is designed to produce approximately 200 tonnes of renewable syngas per year. Renewable syngas is a versatile gas mixture that can be used as a raw material for the production of e-fuels and green chemicals.
The plant will demonstrate D-CRBN’s proprietary plasma technology, which uses electricity to convert CO₂ and biomethane into renewable syngas without the need for solvents or catalysts. The resulting syngas can serve as a building block for fuels, plastics and chemicals across a wide range of industrial applications.
Worley will carry out the multidisciplinary engineering, safety studies and cost estimation required to prepare the project for construction. D-CRBN will remain responsible for its proprietary plasma reactor, which will be integrated into the overall plant design.

Preparing for commercial scale
The demonstration unit will be modular and skid-based, supporting efficient deployment and future scale-up. Its design will also provide a clear pathway towards a commercial-scale plant capable of producing approximately 10,000 tonnes of renewable syngas per year.

The plant will be designed for continuous operation using CO₂ and biomethane of biological origin. The engineering programme will define the technical basis, cost estimates and execution planning required for construction, commissioning and start-up.
